Have you seen the movie?
I just did last week. Ewan ko pero the movie gave me a very ironic analysis. It's superb, and at the same time very disappointing.
Lemme expound.
The set-up, the stars, the everything is perfect. Gena Rowlands who stars as Violet, who at first poses as the landlady of the mansion with his supposed husband Ben (John Hurt) gave a very good impression of the role she is actually portraying. I really loved her. Anyways, their city is Hoodoo capital. Nope, it's not voodoo, it's hoodoo. It's a Wiccan tradition that roots soewhere in Africa? Is it? The south side? You get the idea. Anyways, Violet explains that there used to be a black couple who apparently were the first owner of the mansion. So, yada, yada, yada, this couple wanted to live forever, so using Hoodoo skills, they were able to transfer their souls into the body of another. This couple had brought two kids up to their attic where they perform all wiccan practices, and switched souls with the youngsters. The people found them while doing the act. Little did the mob know that the deed has already been done and the two people they hung to death, the couple I was talking about, were actually the children's souls.
To cut the story short, Ben, the supposed husband, is actually the soul of the lawyer whom the man swithched with. Gena, was the soul of the woman. But now, Gena is old and must transfuse her soul to another. that is why she placed an ad in newspaper asking for a caregiver to take care of Ben. Then comes Kate Hudson (as Caroline), the prospect. This is the nakakaasar part na. I thought na Kate would end na the cruelty, did a lot of things to stop Violet, pero unfortunately, in the end, Violet succeeded in switching souls. Despite the fact na Kate already knows na something fishy's going on, what kept her around the house? Ben. Pity.
The sistema pala of the old couple is by first, asking for hospice agent, then fooling them full-time. An excerpt showed that Violet added some sort of medication to Kate's dinner, pero was unsuccessful. But that did not stop her from winning. When they've transfused souls, they'd give more medication to the former body they've used as to command paralysis. So there. There's no way na malalaman ng iba.
Damn ang gulo ng pagkakawento ko. Pero just see the movie. You'll love it, then you'll hate it. You'll think at first na it's your typical, very pridictive movie, pero actually, it's not.
It's slogan: Fearing is believing. The morale of the movie (as stated by Violet on the movie): Youngsters are so easy to manipulate. They no longer stick to their beliefs, easily threatened hence they'll believe whatever it is that is so obvious thus, destroyin their faith and self-confidence.
That's how Kate lose.
